Kodalikanal – the prince of Hill stations and a popular retreat from the summer heat. 

 

The Farmhouse hotel is retrofit project with a new reception block. The interior and planning of the rooms were designed with minimal intervention with a touch of the local as the wood used for all cladding purposes was sourced from a rain fallen tree on site. The original stone walls provide with beautiful bay windows and inbuilt storage spaces for a seamless interior.  

 

The material palate has been carefully curated to compliment the natural tones of the local wood and stone with exposed concrete finishes and white painted roof under structure. Special site features have been integrated into the design as seen in the rock outcrop fashioned into steps for accessing the different levels and the collected stone as a feature wall in the reception.   

 

The reception is designed to as a modern face to the Farmhouse hotel with a butterfly roof framing an open glass facade. The transparent material of the roof provides a visual connect to the main house situated at the upper level behind the reception.
